It first stood for Internet, then they just added it to the consumer line.

...so, what you guys are saying is what? That the "i" originally stood for internet, and now is used just for the consumer line of macs? Thats Crazy. I read somewhere that NOW, they are used for the consumer line of macs and once stood for internet. I could be wrong though.

It originally started as indiglo, then proceeded to indigo (the color), from there it moved to inda when apple wanted to expand its market base, so it has definately progressed. During Eisenhowers time in office it was actually Ike because apple wanted to show it was a company for the people! But over the years it has definately lost its meaning. Much like San Diego (anchorman reference for the slow witted). But my personal favorite is when it stood for Ireland on St. Patricks day, man, iWhat, iNap where both messed up that day!

(I believe I deserve reputation points for being the most original, and possibly an Emmy)

I know everyone thinks that the "i" stood for internet in the beggining, but I was never able to actually get an actuall yes. That has always been the most common answer as to what it stands for. I would however like to see an actuall statement or quote.
