Well, its about time for another thoughtful and thought provoking poll. Unfortunately, lunch has sent my brain into a semi-vegetative state, so I will post the following instead.

I read a statistic that 9 out of 10 households will have turkey at Thanksgiving dinner this year. The statistic struck me as low, so I thought I would survey our membership on this vitally important subject.

We switch between turkey and Honeybaked Ham. This year is a bird year. I like both, so it works out well.

Most years it's ham. One year it was chicken, and one year (actually three years) it was turkey, but it was Hormel sliced turkey in gravy (my grandmother).

When I have a family, it'll probably be ham as well as turkey.

Turkey with cornbread dressing, fresh green beans cooked with bacon and onions, sweet potatoes with lots of butter and cranberry sauce and brown and serve rolls. I got to fix another plate now.

Put two more plates on the table . . . sounds good to me! ;)

I'm a Brit, so normally wouldn't bother with Thanksgiving...but being engaged to a Merkin, I use it as a warm up for Xmas. Yay! She's a veggie however... So a nut roast it is... Boo!

I could do a bird for myself, but I'd be eating turkey sammiches for weeks, which would be dreadful.

Just wash it down with a few continental beers, and I'll be reet! :)

Turkey every year for me. I don't particularly enjoy it, but it is a tradition nonetheless.

You people are making me hungry! :D

I bought a 22 LB turkey today and will make my thanksgiving dinner and enjoy. Will make my own stuffing and potatoes and fresh string beans.

Plenty left over for many meals and some for my cats also! :D

**** I was just down there the other week, I should have planned that better.

I think we should as Canadians, show our support for our american friends by celebrating it a second time.

Holy crow! That's a BIG bird!

I bought a 19lb bird myself - and that's to feed 9 people :)

In addition to the turkey, I'll be making...

  • candied yams
  • green bean casserole
  • stuffing
  • creamed spinach

And it looks like our guests are bringing over broccoli and mashed potatoes (I hate making those). Can't wait!
