...to send stuff to the trash? Lord knows I'm not a huge Windows fan, but I really HATE dragging stuff to the trash, and in that area Windoze is far better.

Isn't there some shortcut or little software I can add to do this?

Thanks!

P.S. Some Googling led me to try command-delete. But that doesn't work, at least on 10.6.8

Command + Delete. Take a look here for more keyboard shortcuts.

As I noted, I try that, and nothing happens. Are you saying that I'm doing something wrong?

The scenario I most want to use is looking through files in a Finder window, if it makes any difference. I open a folder, see a bunch of old files, want to select one or more and send them to the Trash without dragging.

You edited your post after I had posted mine and I can't read minds...yet. ;)

Command-Delete should work in Snow Leopard. An easy way to see if the key combo is still set for "Move to Trash" is to see if it is set in the Finder > File menu.

Way... way too many specs to list.
cmd + del has worked as long as I can remember. It for certain works in 10.6.8. If it's not working, that'd be an indication of something being wrong somewhere. Does the cmd key work as expected as a modifier elsewhere?

Huh. HUH!

Well, it seems to depend on WHICH delete key. The one above RETURN does indeed work! Yay!

I was using DELETE next to HELP, which didn't.

Thanks so much!

What about the delete button in the toolbar of the finder window?
