My question is will an iPod work if the battery is dead, but still plugged into the wall? or does the power source get transfered in the battery (wouldn't make much logic to do that this way, but since it charges while pluged in, I question it)

been searching some other forums, and seen two posts saying this will work, but nothing from anyone actually doing it... hmm we need a dead ipod to experiment on

I guess $105 isn't too bad if you are afraid to open the thing up on your own.

Yeah there is a company now selling the batteries themselves and you can go install it yourself.
