I am using Office for Mac 2011 and need a recommendation for an add-in or even a separate program to create and edit Org Charts. On my old PC, there were add-ins for Excel and Powerpoint that would do this, but the Mac version appears to be rather limited. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Why not Power Point or if not - you can use Omnigraffle

Powerpoint has the same limited capabilities as the rest of the Office 2011 package. I will look at Omnigraffe (never heard of it before). thanks

I guess it depends on what you're trying to do - but Power Point is pretty quick and easy for most org charts. I used to make them manually - but the Smart Art will work for smaller ones. Don't forget you can add gridlines to PP and treat it similar to severely watered down form of Visio - zoom in and work at a different scale.

Thanks - I have several fairly large multi-organizational charts to build requiring fairly complex designs, and it is doable with PP, but slow to build. It may be the best solution however.

Ya know, I really wish MS would release a Mac version of Visio.

ack, I can't believe I just said that.

Yes - I ended up buying OmniGraffle as a substitute for Visio.

I use mindjet for various other things (it is a mind mapping tool) but I also use it to generate org charts.
Experience the power of visualization with Mindjet

Omnigraffle Pro was recommended to me over straight Omnigraffle because it can directly read Visio - but I haven't gotten it yet.

Yes - I guess I should have been more specific but I'm using Omnigraffle Pro - at least at home.

Same thoughts here. :) There are other popular MS programs which are Windows only that I wonder why MS never ported to OS X. Access, Publisher, MS Money, and the very popular Flight Simulator come to mind.

They finally ported Outlook after many versions of Office with Entourage.
