external monitor question

does anyone know if i can use an external monitor, mouse and keyboard while my ibook is closed. i tried it but it keeps going back to sleep. is this possible? i read that it is possible for the powerbooks but i couldnt find anything for the ibook.

No, you can not. You must have the screen up, so that the system can dissipate the heat build up. The heat from your system escapes through the keyboard. If you were able to run it with the screen closed, it would result in possible scfreen damage. Just connect everytime up and turn the screen bright down.

Even with that you should keep the screen up or you will "cook" the screen.

Keeping the screen up with screen spanning gives you more space anyway. If you just wanted a box you could toss on your desk and forget about, you shoulda bought a mini... they're cheaper anyway!

Yup. 'clamshell' is possible, but is not a good idea.
