Greyed out picture folders

I'm new to my macbook and I just discovered photo booth. I took several pictures using it but when i tried to upload them to Facebook the "photo booth library" folder was greyed out and I was unable to open it and click on any pictures. I tried creating a new folder called "Facebook" where I could copy the photo booth pictures then upload them to Facebook that way but that folder is also greyed out. I even copied the photos to my desktop but they are still greyed out. If i rename and resave the photos, or upload photos from my camera they lose there greenness, but that's a time consuming process. What's going on here and how can i fix it?
