Left laptop on today and when I cam home it was crawling and finally it permanently beach-balled. I forced a shut down and restarted it. Now it's crawling again. On a PC I would know how to look for what is dragging the machine down but I haven't a clue here.

Ideas?

Open up the Activity Monitor and see what is running. You can click on any hog and force quit it. Won't hurt to run Disk Utility either.
