I've just switched to a Mac from a PC. This question is pretty basic, I know. But how do I keep the dock (I have it on the bottom) visible at all times? TIA

When the dock is visible you can control - left click (or right click if it's enabled) on the dock where the dashes appear (between the end of your icons and the start of your folders on the dock, pretty close to the trash can) and then you will see an option to Turn Hiding On or Turn Hiding Off. That option will enable the dock to either hide or stay up all the time. You can also go to System Preferences > Dock > And make sure Automatically Hide and Show the Dock is unselected.
