these are called the "lady falls" or to give them their Welsh name "sgwd gwladys".

this was taken with a Nikon D3100, f11 at 30 seconds, 3 stop ND filter.

I was on my dock fishing when I felt something pulling on my shoe strings. It was this and one of it's siblings. Scared me enough I started screaming!

with that old hut and the farmer working his ox, that photo could have been taken any time in the last couple of hundred years :)

Thats what I love about these photos. Which also inspired me to give them a vintage look. Many of the farmers inland live in houses similar to that hut and use all water buffalo and plows to till the fields. I wanted to give the photos the feel that were took in the 50s and 60s. I have 26 photos total. Want 4 more to round it off to 30. Got my eyes set on a few targets but also waiting for my Tamron 70-300 to come in first..

Here is another one for ya.. Local Taxi per haps? Called Peddy Cabs..

Love the silhouette image . . . Very nice :)

I hate living where I do in the Winter, nothing at all to shoot and always glum and overcast outside . . . Come on Autumn with the WA Wild Flowers . . Then I will have something to post.

I don't know if you can get it in Australia, but this week's Amateur Photographer magazine has a feature on photography in bad weather / light, etc.

Personally I prefer autumn and winter for getting out and taking pictures. You haven't got to get up at some unearthly hour to catch the sunrise for one!

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can . . . . lol Yea but its the trying to get the motivation to get out on a blustery, 3ºc and sleet coming in horizontal type of day, when the fire is crackling and its ohhh so warm . . . ;)

I bought me the Sigma 50mm f/2.8 Macro (1:1) for those rainy days were may get stuck in the house. They quit making it for Canon, so I was lucky to snag one off Amazon still. Ordered a led ring light made by Newer for 30 bucks also. You should get into something like that.. They still make it for Nikon.

BTW, how are you still liking your 7100? I got a friend thats shooting on a Nikon D350 which is a cropped camera also, but his images are not as sharp as mine.

Just got hold of a Sigma 18-250 HSM OS Macro etc. lens for my Nikon D5000 after reading all the reviews, and sold the kit 18-55 and 55-200 to make the £££ back.

Also a 35mm Nikon F1.8 prime for low light stuff.

I think the reviews were pretty accurate as the Sigma seems even better than either of the other two.

First, a shot of the moon, bearing in mind shot hand held at 250mm, ISO 400, 1/80, f6.3 ...

... followed by a closeup of a butterfly on our Buddleia bush, ISO 400, 1/1000 at f6.3

Comments always welcome.

Cheers :)

Hugh
