Problem restoring contacts

I currently have iPhone 3S.
Past weekend - it wanted to be upgraded to OS 5.0.
In the process (working with iTunes on PC OS 7) in iTunes, it blew away my contacts.
AT&T store talked me through utilizing backup that had been done in iTunes on 10/17/2011.
Well - yes, it restored my contacts - without any phone # or emails! all I have are the names!

What to Do?
