Formatting an external hard drive...

I have an external hard drive formatted for use with a PC that I want to format for use with my Mac. What are the advantages/disadvantages between choosing Mac OS Extended over Mac OS Extended Journaled?

2011 Mac mini and 2010 13" MacBook Pro, iPhone 4 and iPad
Quick search came up with a few discussions on this and also a good article explaining the difference here. Basically, journaled is going to be the better choice.
