Hi there...

After updated to iOS5 (includes iCloud), I found all my previous events in the Calendars seemed gone. I kept all appointments, places visited in the Calendar for the last 3 years but anything prior to iOS5 update was gone.

Did I do it wrong during the update or any way to retrieve those info?

I use iPhone 4.

Thanks,

Hi,
That's a pain.
What number of days is in the box iTunes/Your Phone/Info/Sync iCal Calendars and is the setting checked or unchecked?
The appointments should surely still be in iCal in which case if the box is checked, then uncheck it , apply the setting and it should re-populate the phone calendar with the old appointments when it syncs again.

pendlewitch,

I see as attached.

I unchecked and sync again. Only old appointments were shown, which were the same as before. All my records are now gone really. Sigh.

Well assuming that all your old events are still in iCal, logically, if you uncheck the box it should sync everything that's in there onto your phone.

Anything else it has to be done besides uncheck and apply? Anything to do with my OS 10.5.8 and the newest iOS 5 update?

Hmm, I had problems with iCloud syncing after acquiring iOS5 until I upgraded my iMac to Lion (10.7.2) from Leopard. Recommended spec is 10.6.8. iCloud syncing didn't work properly until I did.
You need check your machine against the general requirements, do a software update if necessary and then install Lion otherwise confusion will rain.:)

Unfortunately Lion does not support non-Intel iMac, so that option is not available. :'(

I did not sync with iCloud at the time of iOS 5 upgrade.

Ah that's a shame, sorry about that.
Why not try unchecking it anyway, make sure ALL calendars are set to sync as well which sometimes can be the problem. It surely can't do it any harm.

pendlewitch,

I did try uncheck and chose all calendars, resync it. I rebooted iPhone 4 after the sync and nothing really changed. Maybe something to do with iCloud? Sorry I am such a pain.

You're not a pain:) I think maybe you have compatibility issues..I went around in circles until I upgraded.
Somebody else on the forum maybe could hazard a guess if I'm off beam?

Well, here is what I found...

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3405570?start=0&tstart=0

Then, I changed my setup on iPhone iCloud and opened iCloud through Safari. Here it is, my old events are there... So everything is still there.

However, the problem is why they are not in the iPhone? The old events can be seen only through iCloud on Safari (desktop)?

Ok,
On your iPhone go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendars/ Scroll down to find Default Calendar and uncheck any calendars 'On My iPhone' and leave the default as 'iCloud'.
This normally resolves duplication issues but maybe your problem also.
Getting late here so keep me posted and I'll get back to you when I can.

OK, so far I see now old events in my iCal but the scheduled events are all duplicated. It's not a serious issue so I will let you retire :)

Thanks for your patient.

**Good AM! The doubled events are seen on iCal and iPhone's calendar. I will do as you specified and will let you know. Thanks. I also noticed as we speak the event Alert (I just setup one event) specifies the time to alert, which is very new. The scheduled event itself is set 'all day'.

Morning !

In iTunes/Your Phone/Info/Sync iCal Calendars if you have the box to the left of Sync iCal Calendars checked then uncheck it.

If not we'll think of something else.:)

pendlewitch, I followed your instruction and synced. The calendar in my iPhone still shows the event (scheduled ones) doubled, while iCal shows it normal.

Hello again,
Sorry that did not work.

This is what my default calendar setting looks like on my iPhone.

If I had anything else checked other than calendar then that was causing duplication also.
Calendar is basically the whole of the iCal calendar with all the sub-calendars rolled-up into it, you can't have this checked with other sub-cals checked otherwise those calendars will duplicate.

It's possible this is the case..I'm hoping so otherwise I'm running out of ideas;D

Hi there,

Mine does not look like yours.

Well, at least my old events are found. I will just deal with as is I guess.

Thanks for your continued help.
