Problems with MSN Messenger 8.0.1

Whenever I do a file transfer to a user on Windows Live I get a error saying that there is a missing plug-in. The Windows Live user says the file is being transferred. I am not able to view the status of the transfer anywhere. Does anyone know why? Thanks..
