I have an older Mac pro running Tiger (OSX 10.4.11). Do I have to install each and every new version of OSX (ie leopard, snow leopard, etc.) in order to install Lion?

In order to upgrade yes..but if you wish to just do a fresh install then no, you can grab the Lion installer and do the installation as long as your Mac is supported..

G'day and welcome to the forums.

If your Mac can accommodate Lion, you may be best off purchasing the thumb drive from Apple for $69.00. To download from the App Store requires OS X.6.8 and yes that would mean buying Snow Leopard then Lion.

Not all your application on Tiger may run with Lion. All PPC applications will not for starters.
