Time Capsule

I have 2 questions:

1- My daughter has a 500 GB Time Capsule that is now full. Is it possible to erase that and start fresh? The 'genius' at the Apple Store say no, time capsule was not meant to be erased.

2- We probably need to buy another storage drive. Any suggestions for a reliable storage system that does not cost as much as time capsule? We probably should get at least a 2 T system.

WD Drives------is that Western Digital? I actually have never heard of them before. I'll have to do a bit of research.

You could also plug another USB drive into the TC.
