Aol

I use AOL for my mail . For me it was simpler going from a PC to Mac to stay familiar . My question is this. If I am viewing a site and it offers an address to click on when i do it opens a 'different' AOL than my usual one. It then becomes a battle with the computer and myself to not use it. It says AOL for MAC osX. Not knowing what to do and researching the manual for "dummies" i am confused.The only solution is using the "force quit" button.
Suggestions?
