I recently picked up a 17" macbook pro. It does not start up. I get no display, no ding, no white light in the front. The only thing i get is power to the hard drive. I took it in to the apple store and he claims it is the logic board. I tried the bake method and heat gun on the board to try to temporary fix but still i got nothing. Is there anything else i could try or maybe something else is wrong with the mbp.

If the technician (genius) at the Apple store says it's the logic board, it probably is. Which means you need a new one. Ask them about sending it out for repair. I believe it's less costly that way but get an estimate first.

Hi,

This is my first post.

I got my 2007 MBP 15 inch 128 MB 8600GT and 2.2 GHz CPU for super cheap. It had similar problems when I got it and then it got much worse. I was able to get a new Logic board for super cheap with 2.4 GHz CPU and 256 MB 8600GT Logic board. I really love this thing now and it only cost me a few hundred dollars.
