Hi all, I'm a new Mac user. I just ordered the mid-2011 iMac with 4 gb of RAM (and bought an additional 8 gb of RAM on Amazon to bring it to 12 total) with a 2 tb hard drive. Thing is, I am completely new to Apple and the operating system and am a life long PC User. I was looking for some good suggestions on sites that are good for reading up about the Mac system and/or any books I can pick up and read while I'm waiting on the new computer to be delivered.

The Switcher Hangout on these forums would be a good place to start.

There, Chas_m has created a thread for switchers which includes some top tips.

Along with Chckoir advice there are video tutorials on Apple's web site.

The "Missing Manual" series are generally well written, and have been helpful to me.

As far as sites, I'm prejudiced, but haven't found a better one than this.

Welcome to the Forum BTW

Here's a link to Chas' thread, incase it doesn't jump out at you. :)

Welcome!

Hah. That was the first thread I read when I went in there. I'll be following that until I get more comfortable. I don't play any games on my computer so I'm really just concerned with how all my files (music, movies, etc) stay together but even on the windows platform I keep them in their defaults and just put things in subfolders so shouldn't be too big of a change.

Can't wait to finally learn the new system though. I've always wanted a mac.
