Here's the scoop: 'I Finally Cracked It!'

Sounds promising....and expensive.

I'll believe it when I see it. I just don't think it's a particularly viable product, unless you can somehow do an end-run around cable companies and ISPs. Too many have bandwidth caps that are specifically designed to thwart this kind of a move (IMO). The Comcasts of the world want you using their VOD services - and unless Apple has found a way to broadcast over-the-air in such a way that is more cost effective and lucrative than currently available content providers, I just don't see it working.

update?

Has there been any more on this happening? I have only ever heard very much unfounded rumours thus far but think it could work IF they don't only make content available like on a pay as you go format like with itunes. Perhaps a monthly subscription where they could compete with the likes of bskyb - so far, there are no real competitors (in the UK) to them so there is room for more and I think apple could pull it off if they don't make it all just too **** expensive...I think a monthly subscription to iTunes may be the way to go...but that on top of paying for a television set may just prove to cost too much because it is guaranteed that the TV sets will be expensive.
