My question concerns the search function at top right in the window with the magnifying glass.

The window has a memory that allows it to turn up past searches. However, I have a Mac at the office, and the memory is not functioning. Presumably it has been diasbled.

How may I disable that memory in my laptop at home.

Many thanks.

The search is called Spotlight. You can set what Spotlight indexes in your System Preferences -> Spotlight, but there is no option of setting how they come up. When you enter a search term, click on the item you want and do that often enough, eventually the item will be higher up in the list. That's just the way it works.

Not sure how you figure it doesn't work on one of your machines, but it should just do the same on all of them.
