OS 10.5 Lion's new annoying intro screen

Recently, I noticed due to one of Lion's many upgrades, that I now have a new intro screen when cold booting. Now I see my user (admin) name/icon + guest user/icon. Takes Lion a minute or so for my trackpad or mouse to become active so I can select my User icon and then type in my password. What is up with Apple??

Never mind that I can't disable "disable auto login". Can that be done? Does any one know how to do that?

I should have just stuck to using 10.4 Snow Leopard. No issues for me.

Lion is 10.7, now up to 10.7.2. I believe you can disable the login requirements in Preferences under the Security and Privacy Tab.

Nope. Tried Pref---Security. Can't access the option to disable "diable auto login". It's greyed out. Do you not see it with your copy of Lion? Or are you still running 10.6?

It's definitely there - if that option is disabled for you, click the lock in the lower left corner, enter your superuser password and you should be able to enable automatic login.

I'm running Lion and just did exactly that.

It's only greyed out on mine if the lock on the lower left corner clasp is closed. If that's the case, click on the lock, authenticate, and it should become active again

I'm running 10.7.2.

Tried that. First thing I tried. No luck. That option was still greyed out. Which is why I am asking.

Does it let you enter your superuser/admin password when you click on the lock? Is the lock open or closed? would you be able to post a screenshot of this System Preferences window?

Yes I can unlock (e.g. using my password...of course). I can also check and uncheck all the other options. It's just the option to "disable auto login" that's greyed out. Locked or unlocked. That's the problem.

Press on/off button, seven seconds to chime, four seconds to grey screen with gear wheel and six seconds to desktop with no password or logins required.

No Login screen here on iMac 2007 or Intel Mini. Clean install of Lion. Installed it for friends and no login screen there either.

10.7.2 here on both systems. No such issues. Trackpad is there the second OSX shows up.

Didn't work. Still got the grey screen with my Admin icon + Guest User icon. Had to wait a minute for my mouse or trackpad to be active. Then clicked on my icon to get the password box. I think 10.7.2 messed up my machine a little. Maybe 10.7.3 will fix this.

I installed over Snow Leopard. Whooops. Live and learn.

On my friends Macbook we installed over Snow Leopard. Works just like my systems. Wish I could help more but never seen this.

You have filevault turned on?

That option is unavailable with filevault.

Yes I do. And the prize goes to.... Happy Meal coupon is in the mail. Turned it off and I have access to the "disable auto logiin" option again.
