i dont know what happened but now every time i login my mail opens on the desktop. i checked login items and its not there, so i put it there and checked hide it, but still it opens on login to the desktop. i really dont know where else to look.
did that and it was set to open on login. tried to change that but couldnt. pulled it out. restarted and made a alias of mail and installed it in the dock. everything is working right again.
my mail isnt even in login. i checked there first. i found that i need to quit mail for it to not reopen, i just cant close it. on tiger i could just close it.
not 100% sure what you mean. i checked my login items and mail isnt in there. figured if it was i could check it to hide it, but its not in there, i put it in there and checked it and still it came up. if i go to over menu and click quit mail then its fine but if i just click the upper left red dot on the corner it will pop back up on login.
Lion itself has the option to restart your programs every time it starts.
This option is regardless of the settings of login items.
Lion will open any programs that you have running when you shut it down.
If you don't want it to do this you must choose to uncheck "reopen programs at login"
shouldnt have to do that, didnt have to do it on tiger. anyway i just put my mac to sleep instead of shutdown. if i have to restart i just make sure i quit mail and not just close it.
