boot camp on leopard

i just bought a used macpro with two hard drives, one has osx lion and the other is blank. id like to run boot camp, friend of mine has windows xp disk. what os could i put on my other hard drive so i could install boot camp.

You can install Windows through Bootcamp in Lion. Just go to Utilities > Bootcamp Assistant, and print the guide and read up on it. Be aware that you have to activate Windows regardless of the version and it therefor needs to be a copy never before registered so buy your own new copy of Windows.

You can use a cloning application such as SuperDuper or CarbonCopyCloner to make a bootable OS X operating system on the bland drive in case your boot drive fails. That drive will need to be formatted Mac OS Extended (Journalled), GUID selected when you partition the drive.
