Programming

Hello,
I'm new in mac so i need some help, i'm also starting computer science in university, and i need to program with c++, I tried to inform myself about how to program in mac with c++ and i've already downloaded Xcode, but:
1) I don't know how to open a c++ document from Xcode
2) i don't know how to compile my scripts
