Anyone Ever Sent Their iMac To Be Fixed?

I had to do it, been having screen blooming developing and as I have AppleCare I decided to get it fixed. It's not a big issue, unnoticeable with a dark background but it's annoying me. I'm concerned they'll say there's no problem. Also do they look after your stuff well? I'm worried about that.

They took excellent care of my MBP and total turn around door to door was less than a week.

Thanks for the replies, they're replacing the LCD, been away a week so far, can't wait to get it back!

Have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the service. They replaced the LCD (taking two weeks to do so) but the computer came back filthy. They put the outer screen back on without cleaning it or attempting to remove dust from it leaving a lot of dust inside. They also replaced it off centre. The power chord I sent it away with has been replaced by an old, dirty and broken one.

Are you in the UK (or other country than the U.S.)? If so...maybe there's a difference between Apple Service in different countries.

Apple Stores can be hit or miss. I know of one that refused to deal with a three year old iBook G4, saying they no longer supported a machine of that vintage. I have experienced rude service at that particular store, as have friends who have gone there.

However, I had a great experience at a different Apple Store when I took my MacBook to have a cracked case part repaired under warranty. The turnaround time was one day, the computer was completely cleaned (even the screen was polished), and the repair was done professionally and correctly.

If the Apple Store around you isn't any good, look for another one or try an Apple Specialist. They are typically more into repair, especially if you have an older or out-of-warranty computer. (Age is within reason–don't go there expecting them to fix the floppy drive in your Lisa).

Before calling Apple, start by asking for the manager at the store. Take pictures and document what happened.
