Downloading past purchases from the App Store?

hi

after updating to os 5 on iPod touch 4g all my app disappeared and i didn't backed up,

is it possible to restore them as i have downloaded/ purchases from the App Store?

You can redownload any apps via iTunes.

Have you ever backed up though?

I appreciate an older backups may not be up to date but dependent on the age of the backup it might have the majority of stuff on there.
