Ipod touch - syncing with a PC

Hi All, sorry as I am kind of a luddite .....and also a PC user!

But I do have an Ipod touch from 2009 which I really like.....the PC I used to load up all my songs is now gone, my roommate took it......and when I plug my Ipod into my new Acer I see no library, even the USB port I am plugged into shows nothing.

I simply want to be able to see all my songs, play around with them and make new playlists, download some more, etc.....right now I am getting nowhere.

I might add I don't see anything under the "My computer" link either.....I tried to follow the sticky above but got nowhere

Let's start with the basics ... do you have iTunes on your PC?
