Partitioning a external HDD

I have a 320GB external HDD and when I first got it I partitioned it in too two parts. One for time machine backups and the other for music, videos, pictures and virtual box.

Without fully understanding I gave a bit too much space to the backup side. Is their anyway of safely adding a new partition?
