Macbook RAM upgrade. Worth it?

Hi all. I have what I guess can be considered as an "old" white Macbook, early 2009 (2.1GHz intel core 2 duo and Intel graphics) which currently has 4GB of RAM and a 750GB HDD. I recently upgraded to Lion and I feel that it has become a bit more "sluggish". It's not as fast as it used to be. I've been browsing around and I've read suggestions that 4GB might not be enough for Lion.

So, I guess that my question actually has two parts:

1. Can I upgrade my laptop beyond 4GB?
2. Is it worth the effort taking it to 6GB or even 8GB?

As a way of background, I don't use any graphic software or use it for video edition or anything like that.

Thanks!
