Recently the USB cable from my WD 2TB external drive accidentally came loose from the Mac OX 10.4.11 it was attached to. I noticed the icon was no longer showing on the desk top. I went into disk utility...clicked on repair disk and the following errors were encountered: "failure on exit"..."catalog file entry not found-the volume needs repaired and "1HF-volume needs repair"
Can someone please help. I am illiterate when it comes to computers

Applications Folder > Utilities > Disk Utility then run Repair Disk Permissions on the selected drive in the left pane.

I have no experience with Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior since I have yet to need them
but they might help your situation. I wonder if your port or cable is damaged causing
improper eject ?
