Your Mac's Specs
20" Intel iMac 2.4 Ghz/3G Ram/320HD, Snow Leopard. PBook G4, 1.5Ghz/1.5 Ram/250 HD, Leopard 10.5.6.
Are the source files around 4-5GB? And how big/small do you want them to be in MKV form?
Handbrake used to support AVI, and you can still get older versions should you prefer.
I can certainly help with settings once I have that extra detail anyway.

The video ts folders are 6-8gb as these are ripped dvds. Mkv are usually no more than 5gb but i do have one thats 15gb....

Not bothered what the output avi file size is, aslong as it plays on 360 and has no quality loss or jittering....
