Greetings,

I have taken over IT matters for Client A (pure Mac network)

There is no internal DNS server setup, so any network traffic monitoring will only show me IP and MAC addresses.

Is there a way from Computer A to ascertain Computer B's hostname?

I will be installing DNS on the OSX Server soon, but in the meantime it would be nice to know that IP 1.1.1.1 belongs to hostname "someName"

Thanks

I think bonjour should be resolving hostnames of machines as long as it is enabled on all the machines in the network. Bonjour acts as an mDNS (multicast DNS).
