Hi,

I hope that this is not too off topic for this forum, but I bought a Western Digital Elements 2TB drive last year, and it just pooped out on me this week. I have been looking everywhere on how to fix it, but it seems like the only advice I can find has to do with Windows Computers.

The DL: When I plug it in it no longer is showing up on my MacBook Pro, but the light on it still blinks, which I assume is a good sign.

I am willing to switch to anything else (and I'm interested in Firewire) but I just want to salvage the information on my current drive first and foremost.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks ahead of time,
Grady

With it plugged in and on open Disk Utility and see if it shows up there if so do a Repair Disk Permissions.
I would also look at WD's website and make sure they did not just send out new firmware for your model.
What OS are you running?

You'll want to Repair Disk, not just repair permissions.
