Hi,

I bought my first apple notebook last night.

I bought a Macbook as I wanted something simple, cheap and extra that I could do a little web design stuff on - nothing too multimedia heavy... well that and I don't have to money right now to spend on a brand new machine.

Anyways, I have a questions that I would like to ask you guys and I would really appreciate the help:

I would like to restore the machine back to the factory settings / start a fresh.

The CD drive isn't working (why I got it so cheap).

Is there a way I can restore the machine to its first state / upgrade without using a CD?

Thanks

Short answer, No.

You can always get a USB CD drive though.

Ok cool, Thanks.

The specs of this machine are very basic.

2,0 GHZ Intel Duo Core
2GB Ram
75 gig harddrive

Would it be advisable to not upgrade to Lion?

I would probably upgrade the HDD. You can get 320GB for around 50 dollars now.

As for Lion I don't think you can because minmum requirements is an Intel Core 2 Duo.
