So I'm curious how the 3GS is handling the new OS.

In the process of updating my 4 right now but my wife has a 3GS and considering how the 3G didn't do too well with IOS 4, I'm going to hold off on her's until some more reports come in.

Anyone tried it yet?

Performace better, worse, or same?

Missing features?

Way... way too many specs to list.
The whopping hour or so I've had it on my 3gs hasn't been long enough to really do any thorough investigating. It's no slower than it was before.

Internal Error?

So I'm trying to update my iPhone 3Gs and i get a dialog box saying "An internal error occurred". the "more info" button took me to this site:iOS: Resolving update and restore alert messages

I'm updating from iOS 4 and the last time I did a big update it took awhile but it still happened.

Can anyone help?

I'm trying to update my 3GS to iOS 5. I'm close to giving up for tonight and trying again in the morning.

I'm getting the same internal errors.

Servers are busy. Try later.

I did notice that we can now use custom text messaging tones.

Little late but cool to know that an IOS 4 Feature finally got added to the 3GS.

Hi,

In the UK and just updated Mac with Lion Recovery and Mac OSX update, then updated my iPhone 3Gs with IOS 5 software.

Have to say all went extremely smoothly along with a few cups of coffee,:D only thing that happened was after I hooked up to iCloud I needed to get an iPhoto update in order to get photo stream working, which I did and all is fine.

Once again a big thank you to Apple and all the hard working tech people.

iphone 3GS and new IOS

Upgraded about 2 weeks ago, so far all is well. I like some of the new features and don't see much difference in overall performance.
Go for it.

I'm finding battery is maybe even worse than it was before but not by a lot. Noticed perhaps slightly slower but I would say its a negligible difference.

I put iOS 5 on my girlfriend's 3GS on release day. She's really pleased with it and from what I've seen it runs well. I definitely can't see any negative difference in speed between that an 4.3.5. With regard to features missing, I don't think you can edit photos like you can on a 4/4S (but I've never even done that on my 4S). Maybe there are other features missing but there's none I'm aware of.
