Hi,

I have a little familiarity with Linux fs and am trying to understand the osx fs, specifically if Users - has the user info (equivalent to the /home in linux), what does home (in osx) do?

The reason for this question is that I like to have a bootable system backup and a separate backup of my home folder. Therefore I have rsysc'd my home folder. Which folders can I ignore for the system backup (via CCC)?

Thanks all

Don't ignore anything. When making backups with CCC or Time Machine, backup everything. This isn't Linux. CCC backups are bootable provided the backup is to an external drive formatted to HFS Extended Journaled with the GUID scheme selected. Time Machine backups are not bootable.
