Hi, I just bought my first ever macbook at the weekend and because of the way my University works, owning microsoft office is useful in terms of printing and saving files that I can work on any where. So, I decided to buy Microsoft Office 2010 for the mac. When i downloaded it however, it says that I am in DOS mode and it is locked. So currently, I am a fair bit of money down with nothing to show for it. I have read about these emulators and running windows vista and things through the mac, but this surely will just add more of a cost.

Any thoughts.
Everything is appreciated.

Cheers,
Benj

I didn't get the disc. I just bought it as an electronic download. I have also tried to phone up microsoft but they don't give you any of the technical support phone numbers.

take it back and get the Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac. Sounds like you got the Windows version by mistake.

Office 2011 is the go. The previous version was Office 2008 so someone at your uni IT department does not know much about Macs alas.

I have done it both ways. I upgraded from SL to lion with Word (no issues), and currently I did the fresh install of Lion without any issues with word.
