I have been using Logmein to help support the family members when there are problems away from home.

I finally convinced my wife to get a Macbook Air.

Does Apple provide a remote desktop app? I have seen one for $80 but I am thinking free. I saw a YouTube video about a guy explaining a remote desktop application that was built into Lion, but I can't seem to find it.

After some digging around I found an option under Systems Preferences for Sharing.

Pretty cool feature and seems to be very easy to use, just like Logmein.

The video you saw probably had Screen Sharing turned on. Depending upon what was being done he may also have had Remote Management, Remote Apple Events. or Remote Login turned on as well. All of these can be accessed in the Sharing preference pane.
