Best way to control my macbook pro on my tv?

I wanna connect my macbook pro to my tv via hdmi and leave my macbook pro on my desk. I wanna be able to control everything from my bed. What's the best way to go about this?

"Best" is a subjective term. But if you're looking for ease of use, I would suggest an iPad would be the "best" way. There's an app you can download to turn your iPad (or iPhone) into a remote for your Mac. It becomes a touchpad and keyboard. Wireless control from the comfort of your bed. No need for a separate keyboard and mouse or trackpad.

If you don't have an iPad or iPhone, then a wireless keyboard and either a wireless mouse or trackpad is your next best bet.

Might be worth mentioning that Remote only allows you to control iTunes, or Apple TV, and not the Mac itself.
