I recently purchased a mini display to DVI-D adapter for my iMac. In theory, this would allow me to connect my imac to an external display using DVI-D.

The display that i wish to connect to is a 22" Samsung LED TV, and im connecting to it using dvi-d to HDMI adapter.

The problem, however, is that my iMac is not detecting any sort of external monitor, and my TV isn't displaying anything.

Am i doing something wrong?

Can you see the second display when in the Preferences>Displays>Arrangement panel? I also would bet the TV is not set to the correct input source - try changing the input source.

Hi, i retried most everything, and no, it didn't appear, and yes it was on the correct input. I've decided since my tv was not recognizing the hdmi input to go ahead and order a mini-dvi to hdmi cable. Hopefully that will work!

If the mini displayport to DVI adapter fits on your Mac, then the mini-DVI adapter will not work. Mini-DVI and mini displayport are not the same thing and they are not interchangeable.

Perhaps you should start here.

That should work. It's always a bad idea to have multiple adapters in line as it's almost impossible to figure out exactly what is not working.
