    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

I have an iMac w/ Superdrive (16x DVD burning) and just bought some new DVD-R to make some movies. When I try to burn my project, the maximum burn speed is 2x. The type of DVDs are Memorex 16x. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

None of the iMac's have a 16x Superdrives. The original revision was 4x and the 2nd and current revisions have 8x. Have you tried any other media? I usually stick away from the memorex because I have had a lot coasters from their discs

Sorry... I meant the DVD-Rs were 16x and I have the 8x Superdrive. I had Sony's before and they worked fine... burned in about 8 minutes. Now it takes 30 minutes for one DVD.

I think it might just be the memorex media. I know last year there was a brand (I think it was Ritek 16x) that would only burn at half the maximum speed on my 4x burner
