hey

my HD icon has gone - disappeared from the desktop?

i've checked the HD box in finder - then repaired permissions

but cant get it on the desktop anybody help?

In finder go to Go -> Computer
Drag the Macintosh HD icon to your desktop

Hmm sounds like the icon is there its just you can't see it

In finder go to View -> Show View Options, try messing around with the view options to see if you can get it to appear

Maybe delete the com.apple.desktop.plist file and restart. Or do what trpnmonkey41 said, and restart again. Some of the settings must be corrupted or something, and they need to be overwritten or replaced.

thanks again this is gettin stranger show view options is greyed out
probably cos their is nothing on desktop to alter? :eek:neye:

I don't see any reason why view options would be greyed out. Have you tried repairing permissions?

sorry about this but that file aint there???? (com.apple.desktop.plist file) :)

Search for it in finder perhaps -- the search feature.

In that same folder delete these 3 files if they are there and restart

hey

now i cannot even place anything on the desktop
- when i try and drag something there it just snaps back

any help out there please?

Try deleting this, I'm just as baffled as you are at this: com.apple.finder.plist

Since I really cannot think of anything I am going o try something crazy

In the zip file attached is my desktop.plist file. Try placing that in your preferences folder and restarting
