With kids underfoot my cleaning rag continued on to the laptop screen and then the keyboard and to my surprise all these windows showed up (yes, the laptop was booted -- oops) so I cleared them and later ... ... my keyboard is now too strange to use: letters k,i,p,0 all are blank or create other character(s)

I am searching for a way to reset to my prior settings or default/system settings and need help -- computer is un-useable now, I am using a different laptop to access this forum.

I reset the keystrokes to default in System Preferences with no change affected.

I have found the install CD and am now reinstalling system settings from the install CD hoping this will fix it.

Running 10.5.7 I think (can't look right now as the install disk is still in)

Can anyone help this Friday afternoon when my usual tech person has gone home for the weekend?
