Is there an iMac facility to remember a password on a specific site? I use the Google search bar on Safari. I did try autofill but it told me that it didn't recognize the details .My local library on line service requires the use of my library membership number which is quite lengthy and I am a member of three of them, all with different numbers so it's back to the library card each time.Obviously this is the a huge deal but it would be nice to have the details filled in automatically.Thank you in advance.

That article is way behind the times.

For those new to password managers, 1Password is the way to go in OS X. It is available for your iPhone, iPad, and Windows.

For those switching from Windows and have been using Roboform for years already, they now have an OS X app.

If you're only looking for basic password management, each browser has a built in password manager. When you login to a site, you should be given the option to remember that information.

It depends on how the site asks for the password. Chrome as an example will fill in username and password if it's displayed on a page that is not secure (has the little lock showing). However, 1Password will fill in username and password on most pages.

3.8.x version 1Password

I followed advice from this site and contact the vendor of 1Password, they will provide me with coupon to purchase version 3.8.x from there website for end price of $19.99, which I seen on the App Store several weeks ago. Does anyone see an issue with this? If I download assume it will operate no different than downloading from the app store correct? Input is appreciated, and thanks for the great advice on this site for a new user. Dennis

@dtaylor15 You assume right.

Just download it like any other App and drag it to your Applications Folder and you will be right to go. As well if you are using Safari it will prompt you to install the Safari Plug-in. Do so and then for all your sites its a matter of command and the \ key as a keyboard shortcut to log into a particular site.

Cheers
