Hey all, long time Mac user and fan
I recently bought a Macbook 2007 from a friend because it crashed. Here's the problem: He was using it and his files at the dashboard turned into grey folders with ?'s, he then restarted it to see if the issue resolved itself. Upon restarting it the trackpad/keyboard do NOT work. We tried safe mode, resetting pram, but the keys aren't even responding. Not even caps lock! If we inserted the reboot disc would that solve the problem? any and ALL advice is VERY MUCH appreciated!

It would probably be a good idea to use his original install DVD to run the Apple Hardware Test on the machine. See the following LINK.

sadly he doesn't have it... but I have a disc from a 2009 MBP. Would that work?

No. You need the original set in order to run the hardware test.
