I don't know if this topic has been discussed before or not but here I go.

I moved all of my iTunes files (tv shows, movies, music) to my external hard drive in order to save space on my hard drive. Since I have repeatedly disconnected my external hard drive without ejecting it, my macbook no longer reads the external drive as it should. I am not able to repair my external hard drive but can sometimes access the data (when it lets me). I am afraid that I am going to lose all of my iTunes data that I have paid for.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Does the drive show up in Disk Utility when you plug it in but can't read it through Finder?

No. The disk will only show up if I go through disk utility and even then it says it "Write Only". I would like to just wipe the drive and start from scratch but then I'll lose all of my iTunes content.
