Remove Multiple Hidden Characters

I copied text from a pdf into Word 2011, and now want to remove the line break from the end of each line. Since there are hundreds I would prefer to do them all at once. I can delete them individually with no problem, but searching online for techniques to remove them all simultaneously has not come up with anything that seems to be working. I tried doing it with find and replace but it finds no matches. Any thoughts?

Perhaps this is just a bug in Word, because I tried the same technique using find and replace in Pages 09 and it worked with no problem.
