PDF links are opened by Firefox instead of saving file

I changed by mistake an application opening PDF links in Firefox from preview to Firefox. Now it's a catastrophe as when I click on those they open thousands of new windows and everything stops working. I changed in Finder default program for all PDF files to preview, but it didn't help. Does anybody know where in Firefox I can change default app to open linked contents? SOS

Go to Firefox > Preferences > Applications. Search for pdf and change the action for "Preview document (application/pdf)."

That's interesting, there are all types of files there but not pdf. Why could it be so?

Let's just back up for a moment here to clarify the issue. Are you saying that when you click on a link to a PDF in Firefox, you get a whole slew of windows opening (for whatever reason)? What extensions do you have installed?

The preference screen I had you go to controls how Firefox deals with a variety of file types. The fact that PDFs aren't in that list is a bit surprising (I don't know if it's there if you don't have a PDf plugin installed as I do).

Attached is a screen shot with all my extensions and yes, you understood me correctly.

I tried installing pdf plugin as you mentioned but it says "Not available for Firefox 6.0.2"

I'm not familiar with some of those but I do know that AdBlock won't be causing it. Try this - disable them all, restart the browser and try to open a PDF.

The PDF plugin I use is Schubert. I don't know what you were trying to install but I do know that works with FF 7. Before you install that though, try the suggestion above.

It didn't work. I just noticed that when I click it it downloads pdf file to Downloads folder and then the chaos starts, as it "self opens" from there. Plus this Downloads folder is now filled with millions of files with the extension .pdf.part

I have never liked the Schubert plugin. It just doesn't feel right to me. I was much more satisfied with this solution:

It's not compatible with FF 7 and the developers don't seem to be keeping up with the new FF release schedule. They're still working on FF 4 compatibility IIRC.
