Ok, I've searched the forums but can't find anything on 'matching memory modules' ...
My gear :
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2,66 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1,07 GHz
From what I understand this is a mid-2010 model, and the memory is upgradeable to 8GB? Please advise if this is wrong?
Ok, this is my first Apple computer, and I love it. I want to upgrade the RAM for the following reasons...
- I am a stock trader and run Windows 7(Mon-Fri) through VMWARE Fusion to use my trading programs. I have 1024 MB of my 4GB allocated to running Windows. I've noticed alot of lag occassionally.
- I am a guitarist who uses Logic Pro quite frequently ( while Windows is running)
I want to upgrade my RAM to the max, ie 8 GB. Bank 0 currently has 2 GB in it, while bank 1 also has 2 GB.
Please advise what the best way to install my new memory would be? ie. I read at Crucial that the best way to install my memory would be to use matching memory modules. But seeing as I have 4GB that works perfectly fine, can't I just buy a 4 GB module and install it in one bank? Or would that leave me with 6GB of RAM? or would the best thing to do be buy 2 x 4GB modules?
Sorry for being so long-winded but wanted to give you as much info as possible seeing as I am a newbie .
I am from South Africa and saw these for sale- any good? Patriot Signature Apple 4Gb 1066Mhz Ddr3, Electronics - kalahari.com
Cheers and thanks!
